Here is the picture of Russian jewelry boxes with lacquer miniature painting which I made at Vernisazh craft market (Art City).
The sizes, shapes and quality of these boxes could be different. These masterpices were hand made by proffesional artists which trained in miniature painting. These boxes, of course, are more expencive, then the simple works by students, and the avarage price (depends on details, size and level of the master) could be about $50-$150 per each.
The tradition of miniature painting was brought to Russia from the West back in the 17th century. From the dawn of the 19th century Russians started producing lacquered boxes painted in their own styles. The box before you is not only a jewelry box. It is also a unique work of art.
