Moscow Buildings
Photos of famous Moscow buildings; houses with interesting architecture, buildings of Moscow airports; railway stations, theaters of Moscow and more other buildings...
During sightseeing tours with my clients, Tania and Jed Lezak, I learned from Tania, , who specializes in wedding photography, one technique of photo shooting to get sun flare in deep contrast with surrounding objects. Walking and shooting together I tried to apply this new technique right on the spot.
About this picture...
Ostankino TV tower was built in Moscow in 1967. The total height of this tower is 535 meters and it is one of the tallest free-standing buildings in the World.
This tower held out against several fires, one of the biggest was on August 27, 2000, when the big fire broke out at the Ostankino TV tower, 460 meters above the ground. Three people, including a fire-fighter, died in the blaze. The official cause of the fire was a short circuit. The fire destroyed 149 metal cables that hold the tower in place and four lifts. All major television channels stopped beaming in Moscow and the Moscow region.
The latest fire was on May 25, 2007, when the fire at a height of 342 meter was caused by negligence during welding, which ignited heat insulation intended for repair work and covered an area of about two square meters.
The tower was put on the list of Russian national strategic enterprises in 2006.
